The Symposium

Two Days of Transformational Dialogue
February 17-18, 2020 | 9:00am-5:00pm

In 2000, the University of Florida established a graduate program in museum studies. In the last twenty years, museums and museum professions have undergone critical transformations.

The UF Museum Studies program states: “We believe museums can change the world.” Thus, the program centers the transformational power of museums.  This interdisciplinary symposium  will examine the history and future of museums and museum professionals challenging ideas and practices in order to shape transformational knowledge and experiences.

This symposium celebrates the work of museums, Museum Studies, and our communities over the past twenty years. In doing so, this program looks to the future as we work together for a more just and equitable world.

Keynote Speakers

Transformational Leaders

The emphasis on U plays with the notion that whether you are a prospective student of Museum Studies or a visitor, you are the most important part of a museum experience.

The underscore serves as the support upon which an exhibit or object is displayed. The support a museum receives from YOU the visitor.

YOU are the reason museums exist and YOU play a critical role in the future of museums.
